Ethiopians in Tri-Cities – Kitchener, Waterloo and Guelph – Organized a Successful Fund-raising for GERD
Ethiopians living in three cities, Kitchener, Waterloo and Guelph organized a big fund-raising for Hedasse Dam
On June 29,2013, Ethiopians living in three cities, Kitchener, Waterloo and Guelph organized a big fund-raising party that attracted so many friendly people. It was the second year since we started this kind of programme in order to help the completion of Hedassie Dam that is going on now in Ethiopia.
The counsel General of Ethiopian Embassy in Toronto,His Excellency Michael Tobias and staff members attended the fund-raising party. In his speech he highlighted the progress of the Renaissance Dam and the benefit it brings to the East African region.
In addition the people who took part in the fund-raising event bought bond in thousand of dollars. Starting from last years fundraising party we raised close to $85,000 dollars (this includes cash on hand and all the pledges made by the participants).
We are planning to hold the fund-raising event once a year. The three cities that I mentioned above lies about 100 kilo meter, from west of Toronto, Canada.
