World Leaders, Long Time Friends, Educators and Professionals Remember PM Meles Zenawi at a Prayer Held at The Abyssinian Baptist Church of New York
Oct. 28, 2012
Thank you for those who Organized and Attended The Meles Zenawi Memorial Service in NYC
Meles Zenawi rose to be the leader of the TPLF from the ranks because he was truly a pragmatist and very intelligent person. Members of the TPLF saw his remarkable talent and ability early on and chose him to be their leader. The same way TPLF members saw Meles Zenawi’s extra ordinary ability, his profound leadership quality and intellect was acknowledged by world leaders and renowned over the last twenty-one years. His untimely death saddened the whole Ethiopian nation and was deeply felt by all sectors of the society and the diverse nationalities of Ethiopia.
On October 27, 2012 many world leaders, dignitaries, diplomats, high level officials and the public at large were at the prayer service held in memory of PM Meles Zenawi at The Abyssinian Baptist Church of New York.
Few among those present were, H. E. Ban Ki-moon, H. E. Ambassador Susan Rice, H. E. Ambassador Jean-Francis Zinsou, Ms. Gayle Smith, H. E. Ambassador Jendayi Frazer, H. E. Ambassador Tibor P. Nagy, Professor Jeffrey Sachs,Professor Akbar Noman, Professor Awash Teklehaimanot and many more.
The Service was very well attended by members of the diplomatic core, high officials of the UN, current and former US officials, former US Ambassadors to Ethiopia, members of the acadamicia (inc) and most importantly members of the Ethiopian community. All spoke eloquently about the person they knew very well; about his unpretentious nature, his world class intellect, his mastery of subjects, his leadership on matters of importance to his beloved country and Africa.
We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the world leaders, respected government officials and long time friends of the late PM Meles Zenawi for their presence and participation at the memorial service that was held at the Abyssinia Church in New York City on Saturday October 27, 2012. We also would like to thank The Abyssinian Baptist Church for holding the prayer services.
It was indeed a transformational and challenging twenty-one plus years for H.E. Meles Zenawi and the people of Ethiopia. H.E. Meles Zenawi devoted his entire productive life for the betterment of the lives of Ethiopians by instilling equality among the various nation and nationalities and religious spectrums and by promoting sustainable economic growth.
Thank you on behalf of all peace and democracy loving Ethiopians in the Diaspora.
